Small dance class sizes and personal attention at the forefront!
Revolution Dance Studios focuses on keeping all of our classes small, so that our instructors have the opportunity to give personal attention to each of our students.
For ages 3 – 4, begin to explore basic ballet and Jazz movements. Classes are full of fun and is a
great way to introduce dance and music into your child’s life. The class provides an important
opportunity to socialize and helps prepare children to start school. Watch your child gallop,
skip, spin and jump with a huge smile on their face where every class is a journey brimming
with excitement, exploration and learning. Along the way, our dancers improve co-ordination
and musicality, develop new skills, gain strength and endurance in an environment that
encourages creative expression, all while preparing them to advance into technical dance.
Acro Dance is a styleof Acrobatics used specifically for dancers. It is a genre of dance which incorporates elements of gymnastics, jazz, balancing, tumbling and basic contortion. Students learn Acrobatic tricks such as handstands, cartwheels, chest stands, elbow stands, walkovers, side and front aerials and tumbling. Trick movements are usually executed slowly to emphasize gracefulness, body lines and picturesque extension.
The foundation of all dance technique begins with ballet. Learn to stand with confidence, move
with precision and develop accurate posture and alignment gaining poise, grace, confidence
and strength. Ballet also teaches commitment, determination and body awareness. Classes are
available for both recreational and competitive dancers ages 5+.
For experienced Ballet dancers whose growth plate has fused. Being fitted for your first pair of
pointe shoes is often the highlight of many dancer’s careers. This class includes barre and
centre work to strengthen the feet and ankles, learn placement, and increase flexibility as they
develop pointe work skills. (Note: Students will not begin pointe work without the approval of
the Ballet instructor to ensure safety and appropriate development).
Contemporary / Lyrical dance is a creative style of expressive dance which combines elements
of several dance styles including Modern, Jazz, Lyrical, and Ballet. This style of dance stresses
versatility and improvisation, unlike the strict structured nature of ballet. Contemporary and
Lyrical dancers focus on floor work, using gravity as a tool to move their bodies.
Classes are available for both recreational and competitive dancers age 9+.
Whether your child is dying to rock the dance floor and show off their mad style or they want
an opportunity to dance without the formal attire; Hip Hop dance is powerful and electrifying.
Students will learn about the history, music, culture, and styles that makes Hip Hop one of the
most popular styles today. This class helps develop individuality by allowing each student the
opportunity to exhibit their uniqueness and personal style. They are encouraged to let their
voice be heard, groove wholeheartedly to the beat, and bring pride and confidence into their
Jazz dance is a energetic class that helps increase flexibility, strength, control, musicality and
confidence. Dancers will earn various styles of jazz to help develop a well-rounded foundation
for increasingly more complex and intricate work. This class includes a warm-up, stretches,
isolations, across-the-floor work and combinations. Classes are available for both recreational
and competitive dancers ages 5+.
This class is the triple threat incorporating basic jazz, with the singing, acting and dancing. This
is a fun class that brings all the aspects of performing together. Classes are available for both
recreational and competitive dancers ages 7+.
Once your dancer starts tapping, they won’t want to stop! This style of dances put the dancer
in control of the rhythm and beat. Classes begin by teaching the basic step to help develop a
foundation that leads to a deep understanding of phrasing, rhythm and co-ordination. Classes
are available for both recreational and competitive dancers ages 5+.
Revolution's competition Team is open to all interested dancers. Competitions are another chance for dancers to perform on stage and for many dancers competition is the highlight of the dance year. The purpose of the competition program is to instill a higher level of leadership, self-confidence and self-reliance. The goal of competition is to instill a passion for performing rather than merely the desire to win awards. With the right focus, the experience gained in competition can be a positive influence in all aspects of a dancer’s life.
