Class Descriptions

 

Below is a list of the Kids Dance Classes available at Revolution Dance Studios for the 2013-2014 Dance Season:

    • Acro (Ages 8+): This class will explore the art of Acro focusing on back and leg flexibility along with basic acro skills such as somersaults and cartwheels.
    • Ballet (Graded): This is a set of graded classes that is based on the RAD syllabus which is recognized globally for the instruction of ballet.
    • Explore Dance (Ages 2-5): This class explores music using instruments and mixing it with movements from various styles of dance such as tap, ballet and jazz. This class is intended to give children an introduction into the performing arts. Intended for children aged 3-5 however 2 year olds are allowed ONLY if potty trained.
    • Hip-Hop: Freestyle in nature this type of dance refers to styles primarily danced to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. Styles covered in the class include Popping, Locking, Break Dancing, and LA Style.
    • Jazz: These classes are directed at age specific categories and follow a very specific curriculum during the course of the 10 month school year. Each level's curriculum is developed by the dance faculty at the beginning of each year and focuses on basic Jazz skills and techniques.
    • Tap: These classes are directed at age specific categories and follow a very specific curriculum during the course of the 10 month school year. The foundation for the curriculum is based on the Al Gilbert syllabus in Tap.
    • Lyrical: Style of dance created from the fusion of ballet together with jazz and contemporary dance techniques.
    • Musical Theatre: A mix of singing, dancing and acting, this class is perfect for your triple threat!
    • Stretch: Intended for those students looking to improve flexibility and strength, this class is focused on stretching and some strength training exercises.
    • Jazz Tech: If you are interested in buffing up on your technique this class is a great supplement to your regular jazz or lyrical classes.
    • Ballet Tech: If you are interested in buffing up on your technique this class is a great supplement to your regular ballet classes.

    What Does it mean if "Comp" is listed after the class title? This indicates that the class you are looking at is a designated competition class. This means your student will be required to participate in competitions with the studio.
