The Competitive Dance Program at Revolution Dance Calgary is a supportive, skill-building journey where your child grows in confidence, technique, and teamwork—while still feeling seen, valued, and free to be themselves. ✨
Dance competitions are viewed as an opportunity for your child to perform, celebrate progress, and experience the excitement of being on stage. Because of this, the competitive team is open to all dancers age 5+.
Instead of traditional tryouts, dancers participate in placement classes. This simple and easy process allows each child to be placed in routines that match their age, skill level, and goals so they can feel confident, supported, and successful throughout the season.
The benefits reach far beyond the stage—stronger technique, lasting friendships, confidence, commitment, and a sense of belonging that grows every week in class.
If your child loves to dance and is ready for the next step in a welcoming and encouraging environment, enrollment is simple and convenient.

Please contact Revolution Dance Calgary if your dancer is interested in joining the Competitive Program. A member of the studio team will be happy to discuss the program expectations, placement classes, and the commitment required for the season.
This conversation ensures the program is the right fit for your dancer and helps guide the next simple and easy steps toward getting started.
Dancers joining the Competitive Program at Revolution Dance Calgary are expected to be committed, respectful, and focused throughout the season.
The competitive program is designed to support growth in technique, confidence, teamwork, and performance experience. All dancers and families are expected to review and adhere to the following policies.
Program Expectations
Participation in the competitive program requires dancers to review and follow all division class prerequisites, as well as studio policies and attire guidelines.
Once choreography has begun and continuing through the end of the competition season, dancers are required to attend their scheduled competitive level classes regularly.
If attendance becomes an ongoing concern, a dancer may be removed from competition routines or classes at no cost to the studio.
Competitive classes function as team classes, meaning absences place additional pressure on teammates and instructors. Families are asked to be respectful by notifying the studio by email if a dancer will be absent. Dancers are not permitted to take personal holidays after the Winter Break.
Competitions & Rehearsals
Competitive dancers will participate in stage rehearsals and compete in up to four competitions per season.
Attendance at stage rehearsals and all scheduled competitions is mandatory.
Dancers are responsible for remembering choreography and ensuring any missed choreography due to absences is learned and practiced prior to their next class.
Communication
An important September information email will be sent outlining the competitions the studio plans to attend during the season.
Monthly newsletters are sent to families at the beginning of each month. Families are responsible for staying informed by reading all studio communications.
Please notify the studio of any changes to contact or personal information.
Financial Information
Competition entry fees vary depending on the competition and will be outlined in a September email.
Families should be aware of additional costs that may arise throughout the season, including:
Costumes
Competition audience admission fees
Team wear
Stage Makeup
Additional rehearsal fees
Private lessons
Recital tickets
Travel expenses for competitions
Behaviour & Studio Culture
Respect for teachers, parents, and fellow dancers is expected at all times.
Disruptive or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated within the studio or classroom environment.
Competition Program Cancellation Policies
Revolution Dance Calgary requires 30 days written notice to withdraw from any studio classes.
If a dancer withdraws from a competitive routine after choreography has begun, re-choreography fees will apply to cover the time required to adjust formations and staging for the remaining team members.
Re-Choreography Fees
$150 – 1 hour re-block
$75 – Each additional 30 minutes
If a dancer is replaced (with Director approval), the dancer withdrawing must lend their costume to the replacement dancer for the remainder of the competition season. The withdrawing dancer remains responsible for all previously committed event and competition fees.
Monthly tuition covers class instruction only and does not include costumes, choreography fees, exam fees, recital tickets, or competition entry fees.
Recital Participation
All dancers participate in the winter and yearend Recitals. Participation is mandatory.
